Be Seen, Be Heard, Be Understood - Simply - Be You
Bio
I am an individual that grew up in England, the youngest of four children, I had a good formal education, although I rebelled towards the end of secondary school, and through hard work, I created a great foundation for my children.
I am someone that has had a variety of job roles throughout my working life, chosen on my terms.
I have been able to take my core skills and make them work in different industries. An example of this, from the age of sixteen to thirty I was a plumber, first an apprentice, then working for a company, a sole trader and had my own company with four employees. Just after the recession of '92 I change my career, I took my skills from delivering complex plumbing and heating projects and used them to do a similar role for a bank and successfully project manage key IT projects.
My natural method of learning is to get an understanding of the Why? If I understand the Why I can then adapt that to suit any situation.
I am now on my next chapter, through the death of our son at thirty-five to pancreatic cancer, I now focus much of my time and energy on a charity formed in his memory.
Here, many times I cannot find the Why, sadly it just Is.
The charity's focus is the vulnerable children of the world, those that have childhood almost robbed from them due to life at home. Some are carers for their parents, others have to live in secure care homes to stop violent abusive parents from harming them. Some have terminally ill parents or are fighting terminal illness themselves.
This latest chapter has only been two years, but what a difference it has made to my life and my outlook on life.
I had my "struggles" when I was young but, compared to these children I had a privileged upbringing.
I now use my experience, my life lessons to instill hope, to encourage and help others find the Why and follow their dreams.
Both in my charity work and my business life I want to create a world that thrives on the uniqueness of others, that is boundless in opportunities to follow our passions, to have hope, and to truly live life.
I have had and still have my battles with cancer, it does not care who you are or how old, the fear of it kills many people before they get a chance to fight it. Perhaps I am one of the lucky ones.
I find the positives in everything I do, sure there are times they are hard to find but, they are there. This is often enough to pull you through tough times.
Allow me to help you or to encourage you to help others, no amount of money can buy that feeling of doing good for others.
